The Facility Challenge
A large shopping centre in the Illawarra needed to improve floor cleanliness while working within tight time and cost limits.
The existing walk-behind scrubbers were limiting productivity. The centre needed greater cleaning capacity, but the replacement also had to manoeuvre through tighter areas, including busy corridors leading to public washrooms.
The Solution: MZL M80 Ride-On Scrubber
The MZL M80 ride-on scrubber offered the right balance of cleaning width, tank capacity and manoeuvrability.
Its 660 mm twin-brush scrubbing width, 70-litre clean water tank and 80-litre recovery tank provided capacity for the centre’s larger floor areas. A 900 mm squeegee supported water recovery, while manufacturer-rated theoretical productivity of up to 4,000 m²/h addressed the need for greater coverage within the available cleaning window.
Importantly, the M80 remained manageable in the tighter sections where turning space was limited.
Visibility in Busy Public Corridors
The site team highlighted the forward seating position as a valuable benefit when operating around pedestrians. It gives operators a clearer view of the area ahead and supports control when approaching corners and navigating the busy washroom corridors.
This visibility helps operators manage pedestrian interactions, alongside the centre’s cleaning procedures and public access controls.
More Cleaning, Better Schedule Completion & The Result
Since introducing the M80, the centre reports that its floors receive approximately 50% more cleaning time than with the previous walk-behind machines.
The team also reports improved completion of scheduled cleaning tasks. Operators have found the ride-on format more practical for the workload, helping them complete assigned areas on the required schedule and supporting improved floor presentation.
The M80 helped the centre make better use of its available cleaning time, improve task completion and provide more attention to floor cleanliness. For this Illawarra shopping centre, it delivered ride-on productivity with the manoeuvrability needed for a busy public environment.
